Colombian racer Tatiana Calderon will get back behind the wheel of a Formula E Gen3 car for the upcoming Rookie Free Practice session at the Jeddah E-Prix, Saudi Arabia.

Calderon, one of the most accomplished female drivers of this generation, has raced in some of the world's top championships including GP3, FIA Formula 2, IndyCar, World Endurance Championship, Super Formula and IMSA - as well as a stint as Sauber F1 team test and development driver.

She is currently contesting the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup with Gradient Racing, at the wheel of the Ford Mustang GT3 in the endurance rounds of the premier North America's sports car championship.

Sharing the car with Lola Cars chairman Till Bechtolsheimer, Calderon will now have the chance to join the Lola Yamaha ABT Formula E Team for the first Rookie Free Practice in Jeddah, having already driven the Formula E Gen3 machine at last year's Women Test in Jarama, Spain, where she drove the Maserati MSG Racing car.

“I’m very excited to join the Lola Yamaha ABT Team for the Rookie free practice in Jeddah, which I feel is a great opportunity provided by Formula E for drivers who are new to the series," Calderon said.

"I’ve been impressed with the progress this new team has made so far and that is a testament of the quality of the people behind it. There’s a great atmosphere with everyone pushing in the same direction, something I’ve felt when I’ve been preparing in the simulator."

"I‘m very grateful to the whole team for this opportunity and can’t wait to hit the track in Jeddah to help them gain some valuable data in preparation for the first double-header of the season.”

Calderon brings a wealth of testing experience, having also driven the Gen2 car for DS Techeetah at Ad Diriyah and Marrakech in the past - and will aim to provide valuable feedback for the development of the Lola team on a new circuit.

The Saudi round, previously held at Riyadh, will in fact move for the first time to the Jeddah Corniche Circuit.

The inaugural Jeddah E-Prix will take place on 14-15 February, with the 'FP0' session reserved to rookies scheduled for Thursday, 13 February.
