Alpine Academy driver Sophia Floersch will represent the BWT Alpine F1 Team at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed on Sunday 14th July, when she will get behind the wheel of a modern F1 car for the first time in her career and will complete a demo run in Kimi Räikkönen's 2012 E20 machine.

Floersch, who is currently competing in the uber-competitive FIA Formula 3 championship with Van Amersfoort Racing and in BWT Alpine colours, became the first woman to score points in the history of the modern F3 series, and is currently the only female racer to compete in a mixed-gender formula championship on the F1 support bill.

She will be making her first appearance at the iconic Goodwood Festival Of Speed, an unmissable event in the motorsport calendar.

"It is an incredible opportunity to get my first experience behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car at Goodwood with BWT Alpine F1 Team", Floersch commented. "I cannot thank them enough for giving me the chance to drive up the hill in the E20."

"To have my first time in an F1 car at such a historic event as Goodwood will make it extra special. I hope it is the first of many!”

It will in fact be Sophia's first drive in a modern F1 car, having previously driven the Brabham BT60B Judd F1 car - the last car entered by female driver in F1, when Giovanna Amati attempted to qualify in the first three rounds of the 1992 season - at the 2022 Gulf Historic GP Revival in Dubai.

On Sunday 14th July, the German racer will get the chance to drive the car brought to F1 victory at the 2012 Abu Dhabi F1 GP by Kimi Räikkönen, built by the Enstone-based team.
