Porsche Cup Brazil: Leticia Bufoni secures back-to-back top 5 at Velocittà

Leticia Bufoni continued her strong start to the 2025 Porsche Cup Brasil season with another confident drive to fifth place at Velocitta, securing her second consecutive top-five finish in the Sprint Trophy category this year.

Two weeks after the 2025 Porsche Cup Brasil season opener at Mogi Guaçu, Brazilian racer and skateboard legend Leticia Bufoni returned behind the wheel of her Porsche GT3 Cup car for the second round at the Velocitta circuit, repeating her performance with another top-five finish in the Sprint Trophy category.

Bufoni is entering her second season of car racing after a widely positive debut last year in the developmental series of the Porsche one-make championship. In 2024, Leticia made significant progress over the season, showing promising pace and potential in the #13 Mobil1-supported entry across both the Sprint Trophy and Endurance categories, where she also competed alongside young star Antonella Bassani.

Returning for a second year in the Brazilian series, Bufoni has kicked off her campaign with two equally impressive fifth-place finishes in the opening rounds of the season, showcasing improved pace, racecraft, and greater confidence on circuits she now knows better.

Building on a positive first weekend at Velocitta, Bufoni's second round started off with a 1:37.244 lap in practice that placed her 13th overall. Times, however, quickly dropped in qualifying, where she found significant improvement: her 1:34.155 lap was good enough for sixth on the grid, just over a second off the pole position set by Neto Carloni.

The second round of the season was held under sunny skies, with a record-breaking 72 drivers entered across the three categories of the Brazilian championship.

Starting from P6 overall and in the Sport class, Bufoni had a clean launch alongside the other Trophy drivers and immediately attacked Denis Ferrer into Turn 1. Though she had to back off, she remained in close contention, with her newly red, white, and blue-liveried Mobil 1 Porsche pressuring for a gap.

Big battles unfolded around Bufoni: on lap 3, Nicholas Garfinkel attempted a late opportunistic move, but Leticia responded smartly with a switchback. Garfinkel, not giving up, cleared Gabriel Guper again and resumed pressuring Bufoni, who had meanwhile lost touch with fourth-placed Ferrer due to the fight behind.

Over the next few laps, Leticia managed to build a safe margin as Garfinkel, Guper, and Umbelino battled more closely, allowing her to pull away.

Halfway through the 20-minute race, Pedro Villela began to close the gap to leader Neto Carloni. By lap 8, the two were separated by less than two seconds, setting the stage for a fierce battle.

The duel for the lead came to a dramatic end in the final minutes: Villela attempted a desperate move on the last lap, resulting in contact that sent his car around. He rejoined and managed to fend off Ferrer to retain third place at the flag.

Carloni continued to the checkered flag to claim his second win of the year—and third in a row. Laurentys capitalized on Villela’s incident to take second, while Villela still salvaged a podium in third.

Leticia Bufoni closed in on the front runners during the final lap, having steadily pulled away from the battling pack behind. It was a composed and confident drive from the Brazilian in her sophomore season, ultimately securing her second top-five finish in as many races—and another visit to the podium.

Porsche Cup Brasil returns to the track in just three weeks, this time at the iconic Circuit of Interlagos, the home of Brazilian motorsport, for the first time this year.
