Miki Koyama is set to compete in the GT300 class of Japan's premier sports car championship Super GT with team APR in 2025, as part of the TGR Driver Challenge Program.
Miki Koyama is set to compete in Japan's premier sports car championship Super GT in 2025, as the Toyota Development Driver will join APR team aboard the Toyota GR86 in the GT300 class.
Koyama was Vice-Champion in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia championship in 2024, with 10 podiums in 12 races and a pole position to her name in her rookie campaign with SJM Iron Lynx Theodore Racing. At the Lamborghini world finals in Jerez, she claimed a top ten in the Pro class, ending her season on a high.
Alongside her commitments in the Lamborghini one make series, Koyama also contested in a partial campaign in Super GT, entering three races with R'Qs Motor Sports, with a personal best of P21 at Fuji. She also raced in the popular Super Taikyu Series, claiming a pole position and an overall victory.
After a few seasons in Japanese F4, Koyama was selected for the inaugural edition of the all-female W Series championship in 2019, where she soon proved to be competitive.
Koyama set the fastest lap at the very first race and was fourth in Misano. She would finish seventh in the championship.
Back in Japan in 2022, Koyama graduated to Formula Regional Japan and enjoyed one of the most remarkable seasons, claiming the title after seven race victories and 17 podiums out of 17 races. She thus became the first ever woman to win a FIA-sanctioned mixed-gender single seater championship, and was drafted into the TGR Driver Development program.
In 2023, Koyama moved to sports cars, in a third driver role for the Anest Iwata Racing in Super GT's GT300 class. After another solid season of competitions on multiple fronts in 2024, she will now have the chance to prove herself in the GT300 class at team APR, where she is set to pilot the #30 Toyota GR86 GT300, as part of the TGR Driver Challenge Program.
The 27 year old has also recently completed her first tests in FIA Formula E as well as in Super Formula, as part of the Formula E women's test in Jarama and SF joint rookie test in Suzuka.
Koyama is the first female driver to be announced for 2025's Super GT season; Lilou Wadoux also competed in the highly-competitive sports car series in 2024, driving the PONOS Racing Ferrari.
