Mia Flewitt returns to British GT with Full season entry with 7TSIX

2020 GT4 Pro-Am champion Mia Flewitt steps up to the main class and will enter her first full-season in British GT in GT3 machinery. Racing alongside Euan Hankey, the Swedish driver has joined new team 7TSIX.

2020 GT4 Pro-Am Champion Mia Flewitt announced a return to Intelligent Money British GT Championship, in a full-time entry with new team 7TSIX. The Swedish driver will share the McLaren 720S GT3 with long-time teammate Euan Hankey, with whom she won the class title two years ago. The new outfit was founded by Joe Edge and is managed by Jody Firth.

Flewitt, an engineer with a long career in the automotive industry, first got behind the wheel of a McLaren sportscar in 2014 and stepped up to racing in the Woking-based one make series a few years later. She started working with Hankey in 2017, with the McLaren factory driver coaching Flewitt to Pure McLaren titles in 2018 and 2019. In the same year, she made her British GT debut.

In 2021, Flewitt and Hankey entered selected rounds with Jenson Button's Team Rocket RJN, for the first time behind the wheel of GT3 machinery. They were 12th at the second round of the season at Silverstone. Flewitt will thus start her first full-season in the main class in 2022.

“It has been a rollercoaster ride since I joined the grid for the first time back in 2017, and it is great to continue gathering momentum” - commented Mia Flewitt. “I am so pleased to continue my journey with Euan [Hankey], who has been a key part of each step so far, and we are more motivated than ever for this latest challenge in the British GT Championship."

Flewitt is an ambassador for Race for RP, an organization focused on raising awareness and supporting research on Relapsing Polychondritis, a rare autoimmune condition.

"I am really excited to be heading back to British GT together with 7TSIX for a Pro-Am championship challenge in the 720S GT3.”

7TSIX also has strong links with the McLaren factory and, alongside its first British GT season, the team is considering more outings in other European series.

The 30th season of British GT Championship is set to get underway at Oulton Park on April 16/18. After a 7 event-calendar that also includes the round at Spa Francorchamps, Belgium, the series will crown its champions at Donington Park in October.
