Fox Motorsport's Megan Bruce showcased her progression in the GB4 Championship at Silverstone, securing two top-ten finishes in the fifth round of the season.

Her weekend began with an impressive qualifying performance, achieving a career-best P10 on the grid for both race 1 and race 2; this strong start set the tone for the weekend, translating into an eighth-place finish in race 2 and a ninth-place finish in race 3.

Bruce’s recent performances have been steadily improving, highlighted by her personal best finish of sixth in the reverse grid race at Snetterton, bouncing back with determination from a practice accident. Building on top-ten finishes at Oulton Park and Donington Park, Bruce aimed to consistently contend for top-10 finishes in the second half of the season.

At the previous round at Snetterton, Bruce had started on pole for the reverse grid race three, initially falling down the order but making a superb late recovery to achieve her best finish in the series. Returning to Silverstone after round 2, where her best finish had been an eleventh place at the start of the season, Bruce aimed to continue the improvements - and the progress was again significantly noticeable.

Throughout the fifth round at the 5.891km GP layout, Megan consistently battled in the top ten, including a strong recovery drive in race 2 and a determined defense in race 3 as highlights of her weekend.

The weekend kicked off with a promising practice day where Bruce finished tenth fastest, setting the stage for a strong qualifying. Her momentum in fact carried into Saturday morning’s qualifying, where she recorded her personal best effort, securing P10 on the grid for both race 1 and race 2. This marked her strongest starting positions in non-reverse grid races so far, reflecting her growing confidence in single lap pace.

With a dry and sunny track, race 1 began with Linus Granfors launching well from pole position, closely followed by Callum Baxter and Lucas Blakely. Bruce, starting from the fifth row, immediately found herself in a battle with Chloe Grant.

The two drivers engaged in a lengthy duel, with Grant attempting a move at Brooklands but having to back out following Brice's strong defense. The KMR Sport driver eventually made a move stick on lap 3, dropping Bruce to P11.

The competition intensified as Finn Harrison then passed Bruce on lap 5, further demoting her to P12. Despite these setbacks, Bruce fought well and kept a competitive pace, maintaining her position and successfully keeping Ava Dobson at bay in the final laps.

The race concluded with Granfors taking a lights-to-flag victory ahead of Blakely and Alisha Palmowski. Megan Bruce finished P12, ready to bounce back in Sunday's second and third races.

The second race began with KMR Sport's Lucas Blakely making a surprise move to take the lead over Granfors at Copse, while Bruce, again lining up in tenth, focused on maintaining her position amidst close battles in the midfield.

As the race progressed, Megan capitalized on the attrition ahead and moved up to eighth place, running solidly in the pack. The Fox Motorsport driver again comfortably held off Ava Dobson, as the latter intensified the pressure in the closing stages.

Ahead, Blakely had pulled away to secure a dominant victory, almost 15 seconds clear of Linus Granfors and Harry Burgoyne. With eighth place across the finish line, Megan Bruce's performance was commendable: this result marked her sixth top-ten finish of the season, highlighting her consistency and improvement.

The reverse grid race concluded the weekend at the home of British motorsport; while Bruce was initially set to start from fourth, penalties reshuffled the grid, promoting her to second alongside Ava Dobson for an all-female front row.

The race start was delayed, and an extra formation lap was added, although a chaotic situation resulted in a red flag and a new starting procedure. Once the actual race finally began, Dobson stalled from pole, and Bruce had a good getaway to take the lead.

She defended her position fiercely against Finn Harrison and Jack Taylor, with the three going side-by-side through several corners before she had to go deep at Becketts to avoid contact.

Shortly after, a crash for Wilson and Baxter brought out the safety car; Megan had just fallen behind Fox Motorsport teammate Branden Templeton, who snatched third before the neutralization.

When the race resumed with less than five minutes on the clock, Bruce faced intense pressure from Chloe Grant. Despite her efforts, Grant managed to overtake Bruce into Club for fourth, and Megan subsequently lost positions to Palmowski, Burgoyne, and Granfors.

Despite these challenges, Megan Bruce crossed the finish line in ninth position, having battled bravely throughout the race. While she couldn’t quite capitalize on her strong first part of the race, she still managed to bring home another top ten and collected important points for her tally.

Throughout the Silverstone weekend, Megan Bruce showcased significant progress from the start of the season; her improvement in both single-lap pace and racecraft was clear, as she pulled off impressive passes and demonstrated strong defensive skills.

Bruce now has 130 points and sits eleventh in the standings as the GB4 Championship approaches its final two rounds at Donington and Brands Hatch after the summer break.
