Lola Lovinfosse secures Top-5 in ProAm, best Pro finish in Race 3 with charge through the field

Lola Lovinfosse delivered a standout performance in Race 3 at the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe in Barcelona, achieving her best series finish in the Pro class, as well as a top five in ProAm in Race 1 as she continues to make progress in GT racing.

Lola Lovinfosse had a very productive weekend in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona, where she secured a top-five finish in the ProAm class in Race 1, followed by her personal best finish in the PRO class during a solo effort in Race 3.

The French driver, who also competes in the all-female F1 Academy championship, made her debut in GT racing earlier this year, joining the Lamborghini one-make series at the Imola season opener. Lovinfosse quickly gained valuable experience, although she missed the second round at Spa Francorchamps after sustaining a wrist injury during her F1 Academy campaign.

Lovinfosse returned to the Schumacher CLRT Huracan Super Trofeo at the legendary Circuit de la Sarthe in Le Mans, where she faced unfortunate luck in the sole race of the weekend, hindering her progress.

However, her fortunes changed at the Nürburgring, where the 18-year-old had a breakthrough weekend, moving to the ProAm category alongside Laurent Hurgon in a new lineup. The duo excelled, with Lovinfosse charging from sixth to third in her stint, securing her first podium finish in class.

Fast forward nearly three months, and the Lamborghini Super Trofeo returned to the track for its penultimate round of the season at Barcelona. Once again, Lovinfosse teamed up with Hurgon in the ProAm class, aiming to continue her strong form. Although she was familiar with the circuit from her single-seater racing experience, she was still gaining familiarity with the Lamborghini and made significant strides in every session.

The weekend began with a tricky first practice session for the #76 Schumacher CLRT crew. Lovinfosse's track time was limited to just four laps, leaving her and Hurgon 10th in the ProAm class and 44th overall. However, the second practice session saw a marked improvement as both drivers settled into a rhythm and clocked a best time of 1:46.277, which placed them 5th in the ProAm category and 19th overall—a solid foundation for qualifying.

Lovinfosse took the wheel for the first qualifying session on Saturday morning, delivering a solid performance: she set a competitive lap time of 1:45.771, placing her fifth in the ProAm class, despite the session was interrupted by a red flag which halted Lola's improvements.

Laurent Hurgon then took over driving duties for the second qualifying session, clocking in a 1:47.371 lap time that positioned the car sixth in ProAm and 23rd overall for the grid in Race 2. Hurgon's consistent performance kept the team in contention for another strong finish.

With rain earlier in the day, the track was still damp as the first race of the weekend, and the penultimate race of the season, got underway. Lovinfosse started her stint from 5th in class and initially lost a couple of positions to Renaud Kuppens and Bronek Formanek, settling into seventh in ProAm and 35th overall.

She quickly regained her rhythm and made progress as other drivers ahead faced issues, advancing back to sixth in class.

The Safety Car was deployed on lap 5 due to multiple incidents at Turn 1, which bunched up the field.

Following the restart on lap 9, Lovinfosse executed a series of good overtakes, passing Bailly and Gersanger, and even gained ground on PRO-class cars. Her impressive drive saw her reach fourth in the ProAm class and climb into the top 20 overall before pitting from 17th overall and 4th in class after a strong stint.

Hurgon took over the car and rejoined in fifth in class, continuing the chase on Meyuhas. A late-race Safety Car caused by a spinning car allowed Hurgon to close in on the cars ahead. He defended his position against a charging Pavlovic and other rivals, ultimately bringing the #76 Lamborghini across the line in fifth position in the ProAm class after a disrupted yet very consistent race for the Schumacher CLRT duo.

The second race of the weekend took place on Sunday morning, with a delayed start due to lingering fog. Laurent Hurgon started from P6 in class but got caught in chaotic early-lap incidents that saw several cars go off the track. A contact dropped him to the back of the pack in 42nd overall.

Despite the setback, Hurgon used the Safety Car period to close up to the field before starting a determined climb through the order.

After the pit window opened, Hurgon handed over to Lovinfosse, who re-entered the race with the car not in optimal conditions; despite this, Lola improved the times, setting a best of 1:50.801 while working her way up the order.

She nevertheless showed good fighting spirit, finishing the race in P8 in the ProAm class, bringing valuable points despite the challenging start of the race.

The third race, a make-up event for the canceled Le Mans race, saw Lovinfosse competing solo in the PRO class for the first time, in a changed-line up after her partnership with Jean Baptiste Mela.

Starting 15th in class based on her Le Mans qualifying, she delivered a stunning opening lap, avoiding chaos and advancing to 16th overall and 12th in class before another Safety Car was deployed due to a multi-car incident at turn 5.

Upon the restart with 17 minutes remaining on the clock, Lola was sitting in a strong 10th position in class. Immediately, she went on the offensive, closing the gap to the cars ahead and soon executed a clean overtake to move up the order.

As the race progressed, Lola's lap times continued to improve, with her pace matching that of some of the leading drivers. She made more moves on Randazzo and then on Balthasar, which saw her advance to ninth in the PRO class and 12th overall.

With just six minutes left in the race, another incident for Pavlovic into the gravel at the final corner triggered yet another Safety Car. Lola maintained her composure during this final caution period, picking up a few more places from cars that hit trouble; the race ended under the Safety Car, sealing her first-ever top-10 finish overall on track in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo series in ninth.

Despite her impressive performance on track, a post-race penalty was issued to seven cars, including Lovinfosse's, due to changes in the driver lineup compared to the Le Mans event. This penalty demoted her to 11th in the PRO class. Nonetheless, her race pace and racecraft throughout the stint were a significant step forward in her journey as a GT driver - as well as her best finish in the PRO category.

Despite setbacks in Race 2, Lovinfosse's Barcelona round marked more progress in her development in the series; her standout performance in Race 3, highlighted by her solo effort in the PRO class and a determined drive through the field from P27 to P9 overall, showcased her growing confidence aboard the Lamborghini Huracan ST.

Lovinfosse now aims to build on this momentum at the Lamborghini Super Trofeo World Finals in Jerez, Spain, on 14-15 November, before shifting her focus to the final rounds of the F1 Academy championship.
