Having been announced as part of the new Supported by Iron Dames programme last week, Laura van den Hengel announced her 2025 racing schedule, as she joins Burgers Motorsport by HWM in GT Cup Open Europe, teaming up with fellow Dutch racer and experienced Porsche driver Paul Meijer.

It will be van den Hengel's second full season in the series, as she now tackles the ProAm class with high ambitions, returning to the Porsche 992 GT3 Cup car.

"This year is going to be a crucial one for my performance", van den Hengel said. "With the support of Iron Dames, I can truly focus on racing and elevating both my approach and my career to the next level."

Van den Hengel will now be able to rely on the experience of Meijer, a former Formula Renault Benelux champion and with plenty of knowledge of both single seater and GT machinery, particularly Porsche - having most recently raced in the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux, as well as rounds in Porsche Supercup, 24H Series and Intercontinental GT Challenge.

"Having Paul by my side and the backing of Burgers Motorsport by HWM gives me confidence that we’re taking the right steps forward. I'm really excited!" - Laura continued.

Having known each other since karting days, Meijer will work together with Laura to further help her progress in her career and develop as a racing driver, to capitalize on her raw talent and potential showcased in her rookie full season in 2024.

"Racing alongside Laura and helping her progress in her career is a big motivation for me, but my main goal is to win the championship", Meijer added. "With this new setup and team, I’m confident we have what it takes to go for the win."

The duo will compete under the new banner of Burgers Motorsport by HWM, as the world-class racetrailers company is ready to take its involvement in motorsport to the next level.

With the expertise of Dutch team Hans Weijs Motorsport that will be operating the car, Burgers Racetrailers will in fact expand its presence to form an exciting new team, Burgers Motorsport, which will bring together a wealth of innovation, experience and passion to GT Cup Open Europe - for a new inspiring chapter.

The new venture will field an all-Dutch line up, aiming to the top of the ProAm class in the competitive series on the GT Open package, which will host its season opener at Portimao, Portugal, on 26-27 April. Six rounds are scheduled for 2025, with Spa Francorchamps following, before Hockenheim and Paul Ricard. Barcelona and Monza will round out the season after the summer break.
