Founded in 2017 by the overall winner of the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans, Masanori Sekiya, the Kyojo Cup is heading into its ninth season with a new philosophy.
Having previously announced a new car, the KC-MG01, and factory support from Toyota, the series confirmed that Honda would also provide support within the championship.
The series will see two new drivers join the grid, Sitarvee "Minnie" Limnantharak and Yunqing "Emily" Zhao.
Limnantharak, 19, competed in the Karting Slalom Cup of the 2019 FIA Motorsport Games and most recently won the Honda City one make race in Class B in 2024, along with appearances in various Thai-based Touring Car series.
Zhao, comes from a career in karts, having most recently raced in the 2024 Rotax Max Challenge Asia Festival at Sepang.
Next to the two newcomers, the series also confirmed the return of six series veterans.
Kilei Kanemoto, Marie Iwaoka, Ayumu Nagai, Miku Ikejima, Maaya Orido and Ryu Yamamoto will return to the championship after racing in the previous season along with Yuika Hosokawa who returns to Kyojo Cup after last racing in 2022.
The weekend format will also be altered from previous seasons, with the addition of a 10-lap "Kyojo Sprint" on Saturday alongside the 12-lap race on Sunday, now called "Kyojo Final".
On top of the aforementioned changes, Inter Proto Motorsports Co., LTD have announced that a "Kyojo Vita" class will be implemented in the Fuji-based FCR Vita Championship, along with a "Kyojo Class" which will be implemented in two karting championships, the Gotemba-based MAX APG Series and the Rotax Max Challenge Suzuka Circuit Series.
The best drivers from each class will be invited to test Kyojo Cup cars during the post-season.
The 2025 Kyojo Cup is scheduled to start at Fuji Speedway on May 10-11, supporting the Inter Proto Series and the Fuji Champion Race Series.
