Scottish racer Jodie Sloss is set to make her electric car racing debut this weekend at Sachsenring, Germany, which will host the third round of the NXT Gen Cup championship.

Sloss, 23, therefore becomes the seventh female racer to join the all-electric series in 2024, which represents an important platform for the growing electric motorsport on the DTM support package.

She will be the fifth woman on the grid at Sachsenring, joining Patricija Keita Stalidzane, Sophie Hofmann, Siri Hökfelt and Chantal Röhner.

“I am excited about the opportunity to embrace a new challenge!" said Sloss.

"This weekend promises to be a valuable experience, maximising my development as I navigate a new circuit and familiarise myself with a car I've yet to experience."

Sloss won the Formula Woman program to secure a spot on the GT Cup grid in 2022. Despite no prior racing experience, Jodie showed great potential - which was again on display in 2023, in a part-time Porsche Open Cup campaign where she stepped on the podium in each of her three outings.

In 2024, she has entered again the GT Cup Championship, in an all-female duo with Rianna O'Meara-Hunt at the wheel of the Aston Martin Vantage GT4 operated by Forsetti Motorsport. She secured four podium finishes in the GTH class over the first three rounds, including a second place finish at the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit.

Jodie will now tackle a whole new challenge, as she will have to learn a new car and track, as well as a different driving style, joining the field mid-way through the season. The young Scottish talent, however, is looking forward to the task.

"I'm thrilled to make my electric debut in the all-electric NXT Gen Cup, their setup of bringing young talents forward in a sustainable way is really inspiring," she added.

"My main sponsor Taylor Woodrow is a huge advocate of sustainability and the team there are so excited to see me racing an EV this weekend!”

The NXT Gen Cup is the world’s first 100% electric junior touring car cup where young female and male drivers race the LRT NXT1, a fully electric race car based on the MINI Cooper SE road car. The series heads to Sachsenring its penultimate round of the 2024 season, featuring a record-breaking 17 drivers from eight different countries.

The round is a double-header and will therefore host 4 races, preceded by two test sessions on Friday, two qualifying sessions and two races on Saturday as well as on Sunday.
