Double class podium for Maggie Webster, overall top-5 finish for Morgan Kidd at Snetterton

Morgan Kidd and Maggie Webster kicked off their 2025 AIRTEC Motorsport Fiesta ST240 Championship campaigns with strong performances at Snetterton, as Kidd matched her career-best Pro class result with a fourth-place finish and Webster impressed on debut with two Am class podiums and competitive pace throughout the weekend.
It was a strong opening weekend in the AIRTEC Motorsport Fiesta ST240 Championship for Morgan Kidd and Maggie Webster as they both achieved excellent results at Snetterton. Kidd matched her best result in the championship after finishing race three in fourth position within the Pro class. Making her series debut, Webster twice finished on the Am class podium while narrowly missing out on an overall top-10 result.
The AIRTEC Motorsport Fiesta ST240 Championship has produced extremely close and competitive racing in recent years and with a grid of over 20 cars for the season opener at Snetterton, this was set to continue in 2025.
Morgan Kidd returned to the championship for third consecutive season with the young driver consistently improving alongside JRW Motorsport. Kidd’s pace has regularly allowed her to challenge the overall top-5 and she was looking to continue her strong form from the season finale at Silverstone last season. The fourth-place overall finish in the final race of the 2024 season was a career best and therefore a trip to the podium was her next target.
Stepping up from the BRSCC Fiesta Junior Championship, Maggie Webster had already competed in her new MK7 Ford Fiesta prior to the weekend. Racing in the mixed-class BRSCC Pro-Sports Sprint series on the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit, Webster secured a class victory in a thrilling trio of races where she battled with fellow AIRTEC Motorsport Fiesta ST240 Championship drivers.
Following a test day on Friday, the drivers were out on track early on Saturday morning for a short fifteen-minute qualifying session. With the long Snetterton 300 circuit and track limit infringements removing laps for multiple drivers, completing a clean lap was a challenge.
Both Kidd and Webster laid down early benchmarks which proved vital as the session progressed. Kidd was consistently inside the top-10 overall and at the end of qualifying, her fastest lap of a 2:11.738 placed her ninth overall, eighth within the Pro class. Competing in the Am class, it was an encouraging debut session for Webster who set the 15th fastest time overall, while being the fourth fastest driver within class.
For the opening race of the season on Saturday afternoon, Kidd lined up from ninth on the overall grid with Webster in 14th position. It was a challenging start for the JRW Motorsport driver as Kidd fell to 13th overall, tenth in the Pro class at the conclusion of lap one. Webster, meanwhile, gained one position overall while holding fourth in the Am class on her AIRTEC Motorsport Fiesta ST240 Championship debut.
On lap two, Webster had a moment and dropped three overall positions, falling to sixth in the Am class. Nonetheless, her pace was excellent as she overtook Harry Walsh on lap three and Daniel Robinson on lap four, both for position within the Am class. Kidd was holding position confidently and a series of personal best times allowed her to close in on the group of drivers ahead.
On lap five, Webster also set a new fastest time which usurped her qualifying benchmark. Maggie was now the fourth fastest driver on track and she was pushing forward in pursuit of an Am class podium. Kidd was also maintaining a quick pace in the middle portion of the race and on lap six, she was the fifth fastest driver overall. Her speed allowed her to bridge the gap to Harry Hayes and she was now running just a quarter of a second behind Hayes.
As the pair battled for position, this allowed George Foxlow to close in and he overtook both drivers on lap eight. Kidd was also assessed a five-second time penalty for exceeding track limits as she continued to push hard in the closing stages. Webster’s strong final laps allowed her to cut the margin to Kidd and finish within five seconds of her fellow female driver. In the final classification, Webster finished in 14th position overall, fourth in the Am class, with Kidd ending the first race of the season in 15th position overall, 11th in the Pro class after the five-second penalty was applied.
The second race of the weekend was held on Saturday afternoon with the grid positions formed from the results of race one. Therefore, Webster lined up from 14th overall, fourth in class, while Kidd started 15th overall, 11th in class. Kidd made a great start and moved ahead of Webster into 13th, while Maggie held 14th position at the end of lap one.
The JRW Motorsport driver was keen to move back into the overall top-10 and on lap two, she passed Harry Hayes for 12th. Hayes was now directly ahead of Webster and with him being a class rival, Maggie was keen to make a move. On lap three, Webster passed both Hayes and Kidd while setting the fastest lap of the race in the Am class.
Kidd then settled in behind Webster as both drivers continued to make moves up the order. By lap five, Webster was into ninth overall after overtaking both Graeme Colfer and Luke Warr, with her pass on Warr moving Maggie into second within the Am class. Kidd was also inside the top-10 and on lap five, she was the third fastest driver on track while Maggie was only slower than the race leader.
In the closing stages of the race, Kidd overtook Webster while she mounted an attack on Am class leader Daniel Robinson. Kidd’s racecraft in the closing stages was excellent as she made a final lap overtake on Robinson to finish eighth overall to complete a great comeback drive. Webster lost out to Jason O’Connell in the final laps as he took the Am class victory, while Maggie secured her first podium of the season with a third-place finish in the Am class, while taking the checkered flag in 11th position overall.
For the final race of the weekend, grid positions were decided by a random draw at the head of the field and this put Kidd onto overall pole position. Outside of the top-10, the lineup was determined by the results of race two and therefore Webster started from 11th overall, third in the Am class. It was a challenging start for both drivers with Webster falling to 14th overall, fifth in class, at the end of lap one, while Kidd completed the first lap in third position.
Kidd was holding her own at the front of the field and although losing out to reigning Pro class champion Alistair Kellett on lap two, she remained in a strong fourth position. On lap three, Webster was on the move as she capitalised on an incident involving Harry Hayes and Luke Warr and therefore, she claimed a provisional Am class podium position.
Kidd continued to drive confidently at the head of the field until the safety car was deployed which halted her progress. The cleanup required was extensive and therefore the race ended behind the safety car with Kidd matching her career best finish with a fourth-place overall result. Webster secured her second podium finish of the weekend as she was classified in third position within the Am class, 12th overall.
Both Kidd and Webster enjoyed positive starts to the season as the pair of female drivers achieved significant milestones at Snetterton. Webster immediately established herself as an Am class championship contender with excellent race pace throughout the weekend.
Kidd ended the event on a high with a fourth-place result and she will now be targeting her first podium finish in the series. The next round of the AIRTEC Motorsport Fiesta ST240 Championship will take place on the Oulton Park International Circuit on Saturday 10th May.
