After her Wild Card appearance at Miami, Courtney Crone will make her full-time F1 Academy debut in 2025 with ART Grand Prix, representing MoneyGram Haas F1 Team.
Courtney Crone will make her full-time F1 Academy debut in 2025 as the 23 year old American will team up with ART Grand Prix, representing American team MoneyGram Haas F1 Team.
Crone had made her debut in F1 Academy at the Miami International Autodrome, second round of the 2024 season, in the Wild Card entry for the American race. In a QVC-sponsored and Prema-operated car, Crone made significant improvement over the weekend and finished 14th in race 1, then almost reached the top ten in Race 2 with an eleventh place finish.
It was her first race in the new-gen F4 Tatuus T421 car, having previously raced in the F4 US Championship and the Formula Pro USA F4 Championship in the first-gen Ligier machine, before moving to sports cars in 2021.
Crone has in fact a wide experience of diverse disciplines in motorsport, including speedway motorcycles, USAC Midget and sprint cars, formula cars as well as LMP3 prototypes, where she competed both in the US and Europe.
Starting her racing career at just 4 years of age in quarter midgets, she continued to race both cars and motorcycles and combined formula cars with dirt racing throughout her career. In 2017 she was selected as a Women’s Motorsports Foundation Project Podium recipient, then won the 2017 VMB Driver Development Racing Scholarship, before being invited for the Mazda Road to Indy Shootout in 2018.
After winning the Formula Car Challenge National Championship in 2018 she was invited for W Series selections in both 2019 and 2020, when she drove the Formula Regional car at the Almeria tests. She made an appearance in the F4 US Championship in 2019 and then took a race win the Formula Pro USA in the following season.
In 2021 Crone stepped up to prototypes and entered the IMSA Prototype Challenge in the LMP3 class, finishing eighth. She continued to make progress in 2022, collecting top five finishes - and eventually six podiums in 2023, as the series was rebranded IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge, finishing fourth in the championship. Her achievements resulted in the IMSA Diverse Driver Development Scholarship.
At the same time, Crone also raced in LMP3 machinery in Europe, contesting the Prototype Cup Germany, achieving top-10 finishes in seven starts.
In 2024, her IMSA scholarship allowed her to join the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America championship, however only entered the opening round at Sebring.
Making a surprise return to single seaters, Crone joined the F1 Academy all-female championship at Miami and will now make a full time move to the F4-based series in 2025 after being selected as the Haas representative in the F1-promoted series.

Crone is the fourth driver to be announced for the 2025 grid, following Chloe Chambers - the current Haas F1 Team representative, who will move to the Red Bull F1 Academy programme - Rafaela Ferreira (VCARB) and Ella Lloyd (McLaren).
