Ashley Freiberg is set to make her debut in the 2025 Porsche Carrera Cup North America, stepping up from the Porsche Sprint Challenge NA, where she secured race wins and multiple podiums in the 992 class, following her 2023 title-winning campaign in the 991 category.

The accomplished driver and Shift Up Now athlete will join top-tier team Kellymoss, continuing her association with the Wisconsin-based squad after competing with them in the final rounds of the 2024 Porsche Sprint Challenge season. Freiberg earned six podium finishes last year, including a race victory at Circuit of the Americas, adding to her long list of achievements in sportscars.

Her 2023 title-winning campaign in the 991-class of Porsche Sprint Challenge North America – which saw seven race victories – came on her return to full-time racing since 2015.

Prior successes include race wins in the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge at Watkins Glen in 2013, and a historic victory in the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge race, the predecessor to today’s Michelin Pilot Challenge, where she was the first woman to step on top of the podium.

In 2025, Freiberg will continue as a member of the Porsche Mobil 1 Female Driver Program, which supported seven female racers across Carrera Cup and Sprint Challenge last year.

“I’m so excited. I’ve wanted to make this step up to Carrera Cup for some time,” Freiberg said. “I know it’s incredibly competitive. As a driver, I’ll have a great opportunity to grow there. I know it will be a big challenge because there are a lot of really fast drivers in that series."

“The Porsche 992 Cup car is a blast to drive. To be at the top end of the field you have to be extremely precise with your driving, and I think it’ll really push me to grow. And that’s what excites me the most.”

Freiberg debuted with Kellymoss in 2024 at the Virginia International Raceway round of Porsche Sprint Challenge, where she secured two podium finishes. The team has a remarkable track record in the Porsche one-make series, having clinched championships across all three classes last season.

“Working with Kellymoss is so exciting. They are a top team, and they prove that every year,” Freiberg said. “Victoria (Thomas – Kellymoss co-owner) has been amazing from last year all the way through to now. I’m looking forward to a good future with them because she wants to continue bringing more females up the ladder. And I’m just so grateful to be a part of it."

Kellymoss, in fact, continues to champion female participation in motorsport and will field at least one female driver across all its 2025 Porsche racing programs. In Porsche Sprint Challenge North America, the team will run Loni Unser, who returns after a strong 2024 campaign with multiple podiums in the Cayman class. Canadian newcomer Erika Hoffmann, a former Formula Woman winner, will also join the team in the Cayman 718 GT4 category. Additionally, Kellymoss has added Nicole Robichaud to its Porsche Club of America roster.

The team made history in 2023 by fielding Sabré Cook as the first female driver in Porsche Carrera Cup North America, and remains committed to fostering female talent in motorsport.

The 2025 Porsche Carrera Cup North America season kicks off on March 12-15 at Sebring International Raceway, supporting IMSA.

Porsche Carrera Cup North America will again feature at three Formula 1 events in 2025, giving Freiberg the opportunity to race at two new circuits—Miami and Montreal—while also returning to Circuit of the Americas, where she claimed her first 992 victory last season.
