Alba Hurup Larsen to make F1 Academy debut with Tommy Hilfiger partnership

15-year-old Danish driver Alba Hurup Larsen, winner of the last FIA Girls On Track - Rising Stars selection, will join the F1 Academy grid in 2025, representing fashion brand Tommy Hilfiger in her first full Formula 4 season.

Alba Hurup Larsen will become the first ever Danish F1 Academy driver, as the 15-year-old joins the all-female championship for the 2025 season, in a partnership with international fashion giant Tommy Hilfiger.

The Dane, who will turn 16 at the time of her debut, will be one of the youngest F1 Academy drivers on the grid and to have ever joined the series, with Chloe Chong also 15 at the time of signing.

Hurup Larsen rose to international attention last year, when she emerged as the winner of the final edition of the prestigious FIA Girls On Track - Rising Stars selection, which had seen drivers like Maya Weug, Doriane Pin, Laura Camps, Antonella Bassani and Aurelia Nobels graduating to race cars, with Weug and Nobels then being promoted by the Ferrari Driver Academy.

While Hurup Larsen wasn't ultimately enrolled into the FDA program, the young Danish driver continued to prepare for her step into race cars - which came at the start of the Indian F4 Championship in August, when she joined the Speed Demons Delhi team for the first two rounds of the season.

At Madras International Circuit, Alba collected her first points scoring finish - and then made a brilliant progression at the second round, on the Chennai Formula Racing Circuit. On her first outing on a street circuit, Hurup Larsen was twice in the top ten and claimed a remarkable top six as a personal best, outpacing more experienced drivers.

The young racer is now ready to take on her next challenge, as she will represent global brand Tommy Hilfiger as part of the all-female championship F1 Academy in 2025. The team that will operate her car will be MP Motorsport.

"I am both incredibly proud and excited", she commented. "Becoming part of the F1 Academy and thus also part of the Formula 1 universe is something I would not have dared to dream of just a year ago. It is a fantastic opportunity for me and an important step towards my dream of becoming Denmark’s first female Formula 1 driver", she continued.

"It will also be my first full season as a Formula 4 racer and thus also my first championship, which I will try to win in a formula car", she added.

So far, only Chloe Chong made her race car debut in F1 Academy, with Lia Block also contesting her first full season in cars in the series, after a couple of rounds in Formula Winter Series.

The signing of Alba Hurup Larsen is therefore a step in the right direction for the series directed by Susie Wolff, which aligns with the mission of supporting young female racers better prepare at the start of their formula careers.

The brand Tommy Hilfiger, currently sponsoring Nerea Marti's entry, will therefore remain on the F1 Academy grid with its iconic colours, which Alba Hurup Larsen will sport on the car and racing suit.

The 2025 season is scheduled to start in Shanghai, China, on March 21-23 for its first of seven double-header rounds.
